Ira ben Isaac
Ira was a skilled businessman, who dealt in finance. He married a beautiful young woman, Rebecca, the daughter of one of his business partners. He loved her dearly, and never stopped mourning her when she passed away. As a result, Ira alternately doted on and resented his daughter, Chava, whose birth resulted in her mother's death. When Ira passed away during the same plague that took his sister-in-law Hannah, he left his entire property to his daughter. Objecting to this arrangement, Ira's business partners arranged to keep the finances in custody for the girl, who would obviously not know what to do with the funds.
